Pocketpair’s survival game Palworld has reached the top of the Steam most-played charts following the release of its 1.0 update. The milestone sees the title currently outpacing Valve’s Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 in concurrent player counts.

Quick Facts

  • Concurrent Players: Over 855,000 players on Steam.
  • Update 1.0 Content: Includes 72 new Pals, an increased level cap of 85, combat rebalancing, and a reworked story.
  • Reception: The 1.0 release has garnered a 96% positive review rating on Steam.

The update, described as a "monstrous" addition of content, has triggered a significant spike in activity. John "Bucky" Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, confirmed the achievement on social media, sharing a screenshot of the Steam charts with the caption, "Pause. Let me enjoy this moment for just a little longer."

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe also acknowledged the community's response, expressing gratitude toward the player base for their support following the full release. The studio, which began as an indie group, has seen widespread engagement with the new content, with industry peers such as Pearl Abyss director Will Powers noting the success as "well deserved."

What's Next for Pocketpair?

While the team is currently focused on the post-launch period of Palworld, Pocketpair has confirmed other projects are in development. These include:

  • Palfarm: A multiplayer farming life simulator designed as a cozy counterpart to the survival-focused Palworld.
  • Palworld Dating Sim: A title currently in development that the studio has previously teased via trailer.

Looking ahead, the studio's publishing leadership has indicated an openness to future collaborations with titles like Ark, No Man's Sky, and Enshrouded, provided the developers can find a way to make such partnerships "make sense" within the game's mechanics.
