Square Enix and Tencent-owned developer Lightspeed Studios have announced that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile will officially end its service on September 30, 2026. The project, which was designed as a standalone sister title to the mainline MMORPG, will not move forward with its previously planned global release.

Quick Facts

  • End of Service Date: September 30, 2026.
  • Status of Global Version: Canceled.
  • Account Registration: Closed as of July 17, 2026.
  • Support Closure: Forums and customer support close October 15, 2026.

Why is Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Ending?

In an official statement, the development team attributed the closure to “adjustments in business operations and changes in the market environment.” The licensing agreement between Square Enix and Tencent has been terminated through what the companies described as “amicable negotiation.”

The mobile adaptation, which originally launched in China in June 2025, aimed to recreate the experience of A Realm Reborn for mobile devices. It had garnered significant attention within the community for its unique quality-of-life features, convenient menu systems, and exclusive cosmetic items—elements that often sparked discussions among players of the PC and console versions regarding potential features for the main game.

What Happens Next for Players?

The shutdown process is already underway. As of Friday, July 17, 2026, the game is no longer accepting new player registrations, and the in-game shop has been disabled, meaning no further microtransaction top-ups can be made. Players still have access to the game until the final shutdown date at the end of September. Following the closure of the game servers, the remaining support infrastructure, including official forums and dedicated customer service channels, will be shuttered on October 15, 2026.

The developers expressed regret that the project could not meet the expectations of its audience. “To everyone who has journeyed with us until now, we sincerely apologize that we must end this service without being able to fully live up to your expectations,” the team stated in their termination notice. They also issued a specific apology to those who had been waiting for the now-canceled global launch.
