Ubisoft has introduced its own version of a testing and preview platform on PC called The Player Council. Revealed at Gamescom 2026, the portal is designed to give players a way to check out in-development versions of specific titles and provide direct feedback to developers over an ongoing period.

Quick Facts

  • Platform: PC
  • Cost: Free to test prototypes; testing live game content requires participants to already own the game
  • Access requirements: Signing a general non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and applying to take part in specific testing groups
  • Launch lineup: Codename Split Point, Codename Rook, Riders Republic, and Altomega

How The Player Council Works

According to Ubisoft's press release, the preview portal allows for direct contact between developers and their audience. Participating players can discover and weigh in on projects at various stages of production, ranging from early game concepts and prototypes to evolving experiences for existing PC titles.

While testing prototypes carries no cost, accessing live game content requires participants to already own the respective game. Getting involved requires signing a general NDA and requesting access to specific upcoming releases. Selected players gain entry into a smaller community where they can share feedback directly with developers.

Ubisoft has also included an engagement mechanic: the more a participant contributes, the more capacity they unlock to participate in testing for other games.

Initial Project Lineup

Four projects are available to test from the start of the program. The initial lineup consists of three multiplayer projects and one single-player release:

  • Codename Split Point: A PvP tactics game
  • Codename Rook: A strategy game
  • Riders Republic: An online open-world extreme sports playground
  • Altomega: Described as an evolutionary twist on the 2017 FPS
