Ubisoft has officially revealed Rainbow Six Tactics, bringing the hero roster and tactical mechanics of Rainbow Six Siege into a turn-based strategy framework. Developed by the team behind Mario + Rabbids, the upcoming PC title adapts the 5v5 hero shooter's operators into a squad-based format reminiscent of XCOM: Chimera Squad.

Quick Facts

  • Genre: Turn-based tactical game
  • Platform: PC
  • Release Window: 2027
  • Developer: Ubisoft (Mario + Rabbids developer)

Gameplay and Roster Details

Players take on the role of Paul Bishop—the protagonist of Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2—who now serves in the Rainbow commander's chair managing global terrorist threats. Rather than training blank-slate cadets as seen in traditional XCOM entries, Rainbow Six Tactics features 15 established operators pulled directly from Rainbow Six Siege.

The reveal trailer showcases operators including Nokk, Glaz, Montagne, Ash, Doc, Sledge, and Zofia, dividing roles into aggressive damage dealers, support units, flankers, and snipers. Characters like Sledge retain their signature abilities, allowing players to break through destructible walls to open up new paths.

Reconnaissance and Breaching Mechanics

Missions begin with a reconnaissance phase where players deploy drones to locate hidden enemies. While levels are not procedurally generated, enemy spawn positions change with each playthrough to keep recon useful. Following recon, players choose from multiple breach points on a map, stacking up operators to blast through doors or walls before transitioning into traditional turn-based combat.

Rainbow Six Tactics is scheduled for release on PC in 2027, marking the first single-player entry in the franchise since 2008's Rainbow Six Vegas 2.
