Developer The LANBox has brought Perihelion: Rogue Orbit to PC via Early Access. The title is a 2D space roguelite that trades typical arcade-style twitch reflexes for a movement-based system inspired by the transversal combat mechanics found in EVE Online.
Combat and Mechanics
In Perihelion: Rogue Orbit, success depends on reading engagement angles and managing ship positioning. Players must account for range and tracking; by burning across an enemy's firing line, players can effectively disrupt incoming fire while setting up their own firing solutions. The loop involves fitting ships with custom weapons, defenses, and utility modules before clearing sectors of enemies and stations.
Key gameplay features include:
- Overdrive System: Stacking damage and fire rate bonuses through landing clean hits.
- Shield Surge: A mechanic triggered by finishing off targets with direct hits.
- Flexible Control: The game supports keyboard and mouse, as well as controller inputs.
Platform Availability and Status
The game launched into Early Access on June 30, 2026. It features native Linux support, which has been tested and confirmed functional on Fedora KDE 44. While the current Early Access build provides a foundation for combat, the developer notes that ship customization options and module variety are currently limited, with plans to expand these areas throughout the development cycle.
