Embark Studios has confirmed that the upcoming fifth Expedition for Arc Raiders will be the last for a significant period. The developer plans to "pause" the system until early 2027 to allow for an extensive rework of the game's progression and reward structures.
According to the developer, the decision stems from ongoing player feedback regarding the current state of Expeditions—specifically concerns related to tight departure windows, the existing reward structure, and the overall accessibility for new players. While Embark has released incremental improvements since the system's inception, they have determined that these issues require a more comprehensive structural overhaul.
What This Means for Players
The fifth Expedition acts as the final milestone before the system goes offline for the remainder of the year. If you have been considering participating, the developer is encouraging players to join the window starting September 8 at 4 am PT / 7 am ET.
To mitigate the impact of this pause on active players, Embark has outlined two key protections for existing progress:
- Consecutive Buffs: Any buffs already earned through previous Expeditions will remain active throughout the pause period.
- Caravan Progress: Any partially completed Caravans will be replaced with Ermal Vouchers of equivalent value.
While the community reaction remains mixed, with some players expressing reservations about the necessity of a total system reboot, the developer has committed to providing more details regarding the nature of these changes this September.
Quick Facts
- Next Milestone: The fifth Expedition window opens September 8, 2026, at 4 am PT / 7 am ET.
- Planned Return: Expeditions are scheduled to return in early 2027 with major improvements.
- Player Protection: Existing consecutive buffs will persist, and partial Caravans will be converted to Ermal Vouchers.
