Dave Bautista has been officially cast as Kratos in the live-action God of War television series, produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television. The news follows reports of negotiations that emerged last week.

Production Changes and Recasting

Bautista replaces actor Ryan Hurst, who was originally cast in the lead role. According to reports, Hurst suffered a torn bicep on set in June 2026. The injury, which requires a significant recovery time, has forced the production to restart filming late in 2027.

Prior to the injury, the series had been in production since February 2026, with four episodes reportedly completed. The decision to recast the role was made in lieu of waiting for Hurst to recover.
