FromSoftware has released a major update for Elden Ring that delivers extensive combat adjustments, addressing weapon balance and one of the community's longest-standing complaints since launch.
Quick Facts
- Developer: FromSoftware
- Publisher: Bandai Namco
- Focus: Weapon buffs, spell enhancements, guard boosts, and PvP balance adjustments
Weapon and Shield Enhancements
The update introduces wide-ranging improvements to player gear across the Lands Between and the Realm of Shadow. Perfume bottles have gained increased attack power, while Smithscript throwing weapons deal higher damage. Rellana's Twin Blades receive a critical hit buff, and a large number of other weapons receive direct damage buffs.
Greatshields also see significant improvements, receiving higher guard boost values and reduced weight to bring their performance closer to medium shields.
Spellcasting and Skill Improvements
Spellcasters benefit from enhancements to multiple sorceries and incantations. Magic such as Founding Rain of Stars, Carian Retaliation, Meteorite, Meteorite of Astel, Gravitational Missile, Feather of the Divine Bird, O Flame, and Rain of Fire now feature increased damage, extended range, or faster casting times.
Additionally, basic parry skills, Thops's Barrier, and Storm Wall have all received improved parry performance.
PvP and Player Adjustments
Competitive play receives targeted adjustments to balance combat encounters. Users of Rakshasa's Great Katana will take increased damage during mid-attack in PvP and experience a longer attack delay when wielding the weapon in the left hand. Minor PvP-exclusive nerfs have also been applied to Rugalea's Roar, Rotten Breath, and Ekzykes's Decay.
