Relic Entertainment is taking its long-running WW2 strategy series in a fresh direction with Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand. Launching on July 29, 2026, this standalone expansion trades traditional campaign structures for a run-based, roguelite experience that focuses on survival and persistent progression.
- Release Date: July 29, 2026
- Platform: PC (Steam)
- Price: $29.99 / £23.99
- Features: Single-player and co-op, 5 battlegrounds, 36 boss units
While the base game has seen a polarized reception since its original launch, Relic has been refining the PvE side of the title for some time. Final Stand builds on that foundation by tasking players with defending against 12 increasingly difficult waves of enemy attacks. It supports both single-player and co-op modes, allowing for persistent squad and tactic evolution as you complete runs.
Roguelite Strategy Mechanics
The core gameplay loop centers on strategic decision-making. As your run progresses, you are offered choices that define your tactical approach. You might choose to bring in a specialized ranger squad for their weapon drops, or opt for an M4 Sherman Bulldozer to crush incoming infantry. Command abilities also play a vital role, with options ranging from recon marking to heavy airstrikes and long-ranged bombardments.
Relic has built five distinct battlegrounds specifically for this wave-based format. Throughout these encounters, you will face a total of 36 unique boss units and 18 dynamic events. To keep the challenge balanced, the game features eight difficulty levels, plus an optional endless mode for those looking to test their limits.
Faction Progression and Future Support
Players can choose from four iconic factions: the US Forces, the British Forces, the Wehrmacht, and the Deutsches Afrikakorps. Each faction features its own progression tree, which you unlock by achieving goals and completing runs, permanently buffing your forces over time.
This release arrives just as the franchise approaches its 20th anniversary in September 2026. In addition to Final Stand, Relic is working on Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition to update the original title. The studio has confirmed it remains committed to the franchise, with promises of ongoing updates and new content for the future. You can wishlist the game on Steam now to prepare for the July launch.
