Players running Arc Raiders on PC may be experiencing game crashes, unresponsiveness, or unexpected system restarts following a Windows update released on or after August 11, 2026. Microsoft has confirmed it is investigating the issue, which affects Windows versions 25H2 and 24H2.
Confirmed Impact and Symptoms
Microsoft reports that the recent update, KB5121003, is causing stability issues for a limited number of titles. In addition to Arc Raiders, reports indicate The Finals and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls are also affected. Known symptoms include:
- The application becoming unresponsive or closing unexpectedly.
- The error message "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" appearing.
- Devices restarting without warning.
Recommended Workarounds
Developer Embark Studios has stated via Discord that the issue stems from a change to the "inpoutx64.sys" file. While an official patch is pending, Embark suggests a manual workaround for those experiencing crashes:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type
sc stop inpoutx64and press Enter. - Type
sc delete inpoutx64and press Enter. - Locate and delete the
inpoutx64.sysfile within your Windows drivers folder.
