The cozy life simulation game Pokémon Pokopia is expanding next month. Publisher The Pokemon Company and developers Game Freak and Koei Tecmo announced that paid downloadable content Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin launches on August 5, arriving alongside the game's version 2.0.0 update on Nintendo Switch 2.

What's Inside Bubbly Basin
In Part 1 of the expansion, players head to an underwater town named Bubbly Basin. This submerged space lets players grow watermelons utilizing Water-type Pokémon. Meanwhile, Pokémon with the Generate specialty can power bubble machines and streetlights.
Players can also traverse a hole in the seafloor to explore a dark deep sea by following glowing coral alongside Pokémon. The update introduces new outfits, a power-up for the move Surf, and a freshly added prepared food option: smoothies.
New Underwater Building and Movement
Building mechanics go deeper in Bubbly Basin with buoyant blocks, which let players construct buildings that float at different levels underwater. Players can also construct a Sharpedo submarine to create a room resembling a Secret Base.
Coinciding with the DLC, the free version 2.0.0 software update becomes available to everyone who owns Pokémon Pokopia on August 5. This update lets players learn the move Dive from Manaphy. Once learned, players can swim alongside Water-type Pokémon and build underwater.
Looking Ahead to Part 2
Following the August release of Part 1, Part 2 of the paid downloadable content is scheduled to arrive in late 2026. This second installment will allow players to dress up alongside their favorite Pokémon by wearing accessories, while also adding more furniture pieces and additional Pokémon.
