Shiny Pearls are an essential new material required for various building projects in Pokemon Pokopia's Bubbly Basin DLC on Nintendo Switch, including rebuilding the Pokemon Center. Because they cannot be found lying around in their shiny form, gathering a steady supply takes a specific two-step process: finding Grubby Pearls and bringing them to a Pokemon with the Scrub ability.
- Hunt for Grubby Pearls on sand blocks in Bubbly Basin or on the Dream Island.
- Build habitats for Pokemon with the Scrub ability.
- Bring your Grubby Pearls to a Scrub Pokemon to clean them into Shiny Pearls.
Where To Find Grubby Pearls
Pearls cannot be discovered while already shiny, meaning you must hunt for Grubby Pearls instead. These appear in sandy areas as small spheres covered in sand and will only ever spawn on sand blocks. Concentrate your search on the following locations:
- North-West Map Area: The far north-west side of the map featuring the lab with the Poke Portal and a small covered seating area with a vending machine.
- Staircase Cave: The cave-like area accessed by taking the hall on the right side of the main Bubbly Basin staircase.
- Water Surface: Swim closer to the surface of the water, where much of the landscape consists of sand.
- Dream Island: If you already possess the Starmie Doll, the Dream Island that Drifloon takes you to features Grubby Pearls as one of its main harvesting materials.
How To Turn Grubby Pearls Into Shiny Pearls
Once you have gathered a supply of Grubby Pearls, you must present them to a Pokemon with the Scrub ability. During game progression, Mareanie will ask you to build Cloyster's habitat so you can make a Shiny Pearl. If you have not reached that point yet, several other Pokemon possess the Scrub ability:

You only need one of these Pokemon to produce Shiny Pearls, but having multiple Scrub Pokemon allows you to clean more pearls simultaneously. Hand your Grubby Pearls directly to one of the qualified Pokemon. They will offer to clean up to ten pearls at a time. Keep in mind that handing over more pearls increases the waiting time, and they will not return the items until the cleaning process is fully complete.
