Square Enix has rolled out a new update for Final Fantasy XIV Online on the Nintendo Switch 2. Following initial heads-up notices regarding loading issues, the patch is now live and brings several platform-specific improvements alongside numerous bug fixes.

Switch 2 Platform Enhancements

The update specifically targets performance and input issues on Nintendo's console:

  • Data Loading: Optimised processing reduces screen transition times within duties.
  • Touch Screen Inputs: Touch screen actions are now properly recognized as player input during duties, preventing players from being flagged as inactive and removed.
  • Gold Saucer GATE: Resolved an issue in "Air Force One" where touch screen shots were launched toward the previous reticle position instead of the touched location.
  • Duty Recorder: Replay data now plays back correctly when a chapter is selected while paused.

General Fixes and Adjustments

The patch also addresses several broader issues across the game:

  • Fixed a notification omission for the Allied Society Quest "Hero's Day Off" where reputation advances to "Allied" failed to appear.
  • Corrected a quest completion icon display error for "In the Shadow of the Tower" in the Occult Crescent: North Horn.
  • Resolved an exploit allowing players to return to specific high-end duties (including Forked Tower and The Baldesion Arsenal) after logging out while incapacitated for more than 10 minutes.
  • Fixed an issue in the Occult Crescent where receiving damage consumed multiple damage-nullifying buffs simultaneously (Shirahadori, Image, and Occult Blink).
  • Adjusted visual effects and audio cues for critical encounters and FATEs in the Occult Crescent, including "Dark Artistry," "Accept No Imitators," and "Eye to Eye."
  • Fixed travel circle bugs in the Occult Crescent that could trap players in midair or the ground.
  • Corrected incorrect animation and visual effect displays for various phantom actions and weapon models.
  • Fixed gear clipping and graphic errors associated with Tradewinds Gaskins and Vana'dielian Tights of Healing across specific character races and genders.
  • Moved Configuration Sharing keybind and log filter settings storage from "Miscellaneous Data" to "Character Configuration."

Player Action Required

Players should ensure their copy of Final Fantasy XIV Online on the Nintendo Switch 2 is updated to the latest version. While the software should update automatically, manual checks can be performed via the system menu if necessary.
