Fabraz and Atari have released the "Black Hole" update for Bubsy 4D, a free content expansion available now across all platforms. This update introduces a new campaign, additional character customization, and several technical improvements.
Quick Facts
- New Content: 15 additional levels, 5 new outfits, 15 time medals, and new dialogue.
- System Changes: Improved camera collision, refined grounding visualizer, and consistent glass tube cannon mechanics.
- Fixes: Resolved softlocks during boss encounters, addressed character model stretching, and fixed UI errors in the shop and race timer.
Content and Gameplay Changes
The core of this update is the "Black Hole" campaign, which adds 15 levels featuring new hazards and enemies. Players can unlock five new outfits by collecting "void fleece" throughout these stages. The update also introduces 15 time medals and four new platform-specific achievements or trophies. Completing the full game at 100% now grants a special reward.
Technical Improvements
The patch addresses several player-reported issues to improve overall stability:
- Physics and Movement: The developer has refined camera collision and reduced the likelihood of clipping through the ground when entering hairball form. The grounding visualizer is now more stable during hairball bounces.
- Bug Fixes: Characters will no longer remain stuck in squashed or stretched animations. Additionally, a softlock that occurred if a player died to the boss Baarbee at the exact moment of victory has been resolved.
- UI and Systems: The shop menu now correctly remembers ability toggles, and the race timer has been adjusted to prevent it from appearing on the title screen after game completion.
Players should ensure their game is updated to version 1.2 to access the new levels and receive these technical fixes.
