Samsung officially unveiled its latest foldable lineup during the recent Unpacked event, introducing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. The device introduces a new 4:3 display ratio designed to address common issues for mobile gamers, specifically the persistent letterboxing that often occurs on foldable screens during gameplay.
Hardware Improvements for Gaming
Beyond the change in aspect ratio, the Z Fold 8 features a 7.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED display. This hardware update is paired with an upgraded 4,800 mAh battery, which offers a capacity increase over the previous Z Fold 7 model. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which Samsung positions as a competitor to the A19 Pro chip found in Apple's iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Pricing and Models
The standard Z Fold 8 will be available in four colors: Lavender, Graphite, Cream, and Pistachio. Pricing begins at $1,899.
Samsung also used the event to announce additional hardware, including the Z Fold 8 Ultra, which retains the form factor of the Z Fold 7 but offers a slimmer profile and a larger 5,000 mAh battery. Other new arrivals include the Z Flip 8, the Galaxy Watch 9 series, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and the new Galaxy Glasses.
