GSC Game World is rolling out the 2.0 update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on August 20, 2026. The patch arrives in tandem with the Cost of Hope expansion, introducing a series of technical and gameplay adjustments aimed at refining the experience within the Exclusion Zone.
Quick Facts
- Release Date: August 20, 2026
- New Features: Custom Rules difficulty, three new binocular models, and new firearms (Arev and GP3A).
- Technical Changes: Overhauled lighting, shadows, and reflections, plus fixes for enemies shooting through walls.
Visuals and Gameplay Refinements
The 2.0 update focuses heavily on environmental fidelity. Developers have reworked the landscapes and lighting systems to produce more natural shadows and reflections. Beyond the aesthetic changes, the update addresses several navigation and combat issues, specifically ensuring that enemies no longer fire through solid walls and that population densities in certain areas are better balanced.
Life in the Zone is also receiving a density boost. Players will encounter more activity at key points of interest, such as campfires and bus stops, where interactions between stalkers and mutants will occur more frequently.
Customization and New Gear
Players looking to tailor their survival experience can now utilize the new Custom Rules feature. This settings menu allows for direct control over the game's economy and the lethality of mutants, enabling players to increase or decrease the difficulty to their preference.
The update also expands the player's arsenal and scouting capabilities. Three new binocular models are being added, each offering unique functionality for scanning the environment. Additionally, two new weapons—the Arev and the GP3A—will be available for players to acquire as they navigate the Zone.
