Ubisoft has officially pulled the plug on the Community Treasure Hunt for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. The event, which was designed to drip-feed clues to the community every Friday, has been derailed after players successfully tracked down the hidden rewards by pure chance well ahead of the intended schedule.
The treasure hunt was originally planned to span three weeks, with each clue leading players to a secret Community Chest. While the first chest successfully rewarded players with 4,000 Reales, the momentum shifted during Week 2. A player using the Reddit handle ‘-Holliday’ reported finding the second chest—which contained the highly sought-after Explorer Outfit—simply by swimming to the ocean floor in hopes of finding a hidden cache.
Community Skill Outpaces Developer Schedule
The discovery caught the development team off guard. Ubisoft acknowledged the community's efficiency on social media, stating, “You guys are too good. We were going to reveal a clue for this community chest on Friday but your treasure hunting skills are too great. Hats off!”
The Explorer Outfit, a fan-favorite from the original 2013 Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, was believed by many to be absent from the Resynced release. Players can still locate it at coordinates 28,292 by diving to the unmarked chest on the sea floor.
Third Chest Already Discovered
The situation has only escalated for the developers. Another player, Reddit user ‘NinePathompuZ’, has since reported discovering the third and final community chest. This hidden cache contains the Uncrowned Prince Legendary Rapier and the Guardian Beast Figurehead for the Jackdaw, found at coordinates 500,168.
While Ubisoft has yet to issue a formal response to the third discovery, it is highly likely the remainder of the planned event will be scrapped. As the studio previously noted, the player base has proven to be “too good” for the current format of the hunt.
