In The Division Resurgence, Specializations function as character classes that grant you unique skills. While you select your initial class during the tutorial, you aren't locked into that choice permanently. Once you progress to level 12, the game introduces the flexibility to swap between different playstyles to suit your current mission needs.

How to Change Specialization

After reaching level 12, you will unlock the Career Options quest. Completing this will grant you access to the Specialization Quartermaster vendor, located at the NYC Base of Operations under the Phoenix icon. You can speak with this vendor to change your Specialization for the first time. Once you have interacted with the Quartermaster, you gain the ability to switch your Specialization on the go directly through your Character menu.

There are currently five available Specializations:

  • Vanguard
  • Demolitionist
  • Bulwark
  • Field Medic
  • Tech Operator

The game imposes no cooldowns or restrictions on these swaps, and your Talent Point progress is saved for each class, meaning you can experiment with different builds without losing your previous upgrades.

How to Change Specialization Focus

Beyond the base Specialization, you can further refine your character using Specialization Focuses. These represent distinct talent trees within your chosen class. To switch or unlock a new Focus:

  1. Open your Character menu.
  2. Navigate to the Specialization Focus tab.
  3. Spend two Talent Points to unlock a secondary Focus if you haven't already.
  4. Select the desired Focus and tap Activate Focus.

Talent Point progress is shared across all Focuses within a specific Specialization. If you reset your Talent Trees, you do so without any penalties or loss of progress, allowing you to reallocate points freely.
