Blizzard Entertainment is taking Overwatch to the streets of Tokyo for its third season of 2026. Into the Tiger’s Den officially launches on June 16, bringing a new Damage hero, a hybrid map, and a narrative-driven event to the game.
Meet Shion: The New Damage Hero
The centerpiece of this season is Shion, the boss of the Hashimoto crime family. As a Damage dealer, her kit emphasizes high-speed movement and aggression. She dual-wields pistols featuring a unique three-round firing cadence and utilizes a dash ability to weave through enemy lines. Her most notable feature is a motorcycle she can ride across the battlefield before launching it as an explosive projectile.
Neon Junction and Anima Strike
Tokyo serves as the backdrop for the new hybrid map, Neon Junction. Players will battle to capture an initial zone—with secrets hidden in spots like 'Hobby World' and 'Capsule Hunt Go!'—before escorting a payload toward the Zuiko-za district. The map is tied to the Anima Strike narrative event, which runs for three weeks and offers over 50 themed rewards through a branching challenge path.
Mythic Cosmetics and Ultra Skins
Season 3 introduces several high-tier cosmetic additions:
- Illari Mythic Skin: 'Ascendant Phoenix,' featuring four levels of progression including custom wing variants and ultimate visual effects.
- Hanzo Mythic Weapon Skin: 'Tokyo Rebel,' which adds evolving holographic dragon effects and custom kill animations.
- Ultra Skins: A new rarity tier debuting with 'Nyan Café' themed skins for Kiriko and Sierra. These skins include custom sound suites, ambient animations, and unique visual effects.
Hero Balancing and Updates
The patch includes significant adjustments across all roles. Notable changes include:
- Tank: D.Va's shield conversion is reduced to 100, while Reinhardt’s Firestrike damage has been bumped to 125 with increased projectile speed. Hazard received multiple adjustments, including a reduced Spike Guard duration and increased healing from Anarchic Zeal.
- Damage: Cassidy’s 'Silver Bullet' bleed damage has been reduced. Genji’s Deflect cooldown dropped to 8 seconds, and he received a boost to his 'Meditation' healing. Reaper’s health has been lowered to 275.
- Support: Moira’s Biotic Orb now deals 60 DPS and heals for 75 HPS. Mercy’s damage boost has been reduced to 25%, though her new 'Chain Boost' perk adds an extra 5% increase.
The update also introduces a redesigned hero select screen to accommodate the growing roster, featuring improved role filters and easier access to skins. Additionally, a collaboration with Japanese musical duo Yoasobi will bring new skins to the in-game shop, and a set of experimental hero changes—designed with input from creators like Guxue and mL7support—will be available from June 30 to July 13.
