Unknown Worlds has opened access to the Subnautica 2 Experimental build, allowing players on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC to test in-development content ahead of a wider release. The preview is available through the Xbox Insider Program.

What to Expect from Experimental Builds

The Experimental preview is designed for community testing, meaning players will encounter unfinished features, balance adjustments, and bugs. The development team is using these builds to gather feedback and refine the game's mechanics before they reach the stable version.

Important Compatibility Notes

  • Save Files: Experimental saves are incompatible with the stable version of the game. The two versions keep save data completely separate.
  • Multiplayer: Players using the Experimental build can only engage in multiplayer sessions with others also running the Experimental version.
  • Access: Participation requires either ownership of Subnautica 2 or an active Game Pass subscription.

How to Provide Feedback

Players who encounter issues or wish to share feedback can do so directly through their console. By holding the Xbox button and selecting Report a problem, users can submit details under the Games category and Subnautica 2 subcategory. This data is used by the development team to identify and resolve bugs during the pre-release phase.
