Tetsu Okano, the director of the Dreamcast simulation game Segagaga, has revealed his latest project: a run 'n' gun shooter titled HIJURA SCARLET GEAR. Scheduled for release on Steam, the title is notable for its open adoption of generative AI tools.

According to the AI-Generated Content Disclosure on the game's Steam page, HUGA Inc. is utilizing generative AI for two primary purposes: image generation and code assistance. Okano, who also operates under the name Zorge Ichizo, described the development process as a deliberate effort to push AI technology to its limits.
While acknowledging that the use of generative AI in gaming is a sensitive and controversial subject, Okano stated that the project is an attempt to see what happens when a veteran developer goes "all-in" with the technology. He has characterized the resulting gameplay as "chaotic, unhinged, and over-the-top," noting that it aligns with the style of his previous work.
