Five years after its original launch, developer Neon Giant has announced that The Ascent is receiving a major update on PlayStation 5. The studio confirmed that this patch is currently in development and is penciled in for a November 2026 release.
Key Improvements for Solo and Co-op Play
The upcoming update aims to address long-standing technical concerns to provide a more consistent experience for both solo adventurers and co-op groups. According to the developer's press release, players can expect specific refinements in several key areas:
- Co-op Teleportation: Streamlining how players move through the world together.
- Encounter System: Adjustments to how enemy encounters function.
- Save-Game Reliability: Targeted fixes to ensure player data remains secure.
- Progression Reliability: Improvements to ensure quest and character advancement tracks correctly.
Future Plans and Studio Direction
Beyond the upcoming November patch, Neon Giant has indicated that it has broader plans for the future of the franchise. The studio teased potential expansions involving new platforms, additional genres, and future sequels.
While the team continues to support The Ascent, they are also currently at work on No Law, an open-world cyberpunk action RPG that has been in development following the studio's previous work.
