Tribute Games has expanded the roster of Scott Pilgrim EX with the release of the Back in the Band DLC. The update introduces three new playable characters: Stephen Stills, Kim Pine, and Knives Chau.
New Character Integration
According to the developer, the team focused on ensuring the new characters feel cohesive with the existing cast. This involved updating the character select screen to accommodate the newcomers and designing unique idle animations for each hero to reflect their specific personalities.
The development team noted that Kim Pine’s animations are designed to show confidence, while Knives Chau’s movements emphasize restless energy and an acrobatic fighting style. Stephen Stills features subtle reactions to differentiate his character performance.
Gameplay Mechanics
The DLC emphasizes distinct combat rhythms for the additions. Knives Chau is specifically built as a fast, hit-and-run fighter. Her mechanics utilize her scarf as both a visual element and a weapon, allowing for extended attack reach and rapid movement to weave through enemy encounters.
