PlayStation Network is currently down globally following a major outage, though services are slowly beginning to recover. The network disruption, which knocked almost all PSN features offline, was triggered by an incident involving Amazon Web Services, a key provider powering much of the PlayStation Network infrastructure.
Quick Facts
- Platform: PS5, PS4, and mobile via the PS App
- Date: Friday, 24th July 2026
- Cause: Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage
- Status: Slowly recovering globally
Global Outage Affects Store and Features
Down Detector registered a massive spike in user reports across the United States and the UK as the issue unfolded. Players reported that the entire network was offline, preventing game downloads, disabling the PS App, and blocking access to Trophies, friends lists, and online game servers.
The disruption also impacted digital access, with some users unable to verify game licenses for digital titles. The web-based PlayStation Store was reported offline, and the open beta for Marvel Tokon displayed network errors on PS5 hardware.
Recovery Underway
Amazon Web Services acknowledged the technical issues and confirmed that services are slowly returning to normal. Sony's official status page initially reported that all services were up and running despite widespread user complaints.
As recovery progresses, players have reported that basic features like friends lists and recently played games are coming back online. While offline play for both physical and downloaded games largely remained functional for users during the peak of the disruption, online connectivity continues to stabilize across regions.
