Konami has officially confirmed the technical specifications for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker ahead of their arrival on PlayStation 5. Both titles are included in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which is set to release on August 27, 2026.
Quick Facts
- Metal Gear Solid 4 Resolution: 4K
- Metal Gear Solid 4 Frame Rate: 60 FPS
- Peace Walker Features: Includes Original, Adjusted, High Resolution, and Custom modes.
- Bonus Content: Includes Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (Game Boy Color) and various digital items.
While Konami describes these releases as ports rather than full-scale remasters, the jump to modern hardware brings notable improvements. Metal Gear Solid 4, which was originally capped at 1080p on the PlayStation 3, will now run at a consistent 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second on both the base PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is receiving more granular options for players. The developer has confirmed four distinct display settings: Original, Adjusted, High Resolution, and Custom. The High Resolution mode is specifically designed to clarify the game's hand-drawn cutscenes, removing the blur present in the original release.
In addition to these two titles, the Master Collection Vol. 2 package includes Metal Gear: Ghost Babel, originally released for the Game Boy Color, alongside a selection of bonus digital items. The collection will be available to purchase on August 27, 2026.
