Recasting Iconic Roles
With the original Combat Evolved reaching its 25th anniversary this November, Halo Studios has moved forward with a new voice cast for several key characters. Most notably, Sergeant Major Avery Johnson and Captain Jacob Keyes have been recast. Keston John, known for his work in Marathon and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, takes over the role of Johnson, while anime and gaming veteran Keith Silverstein—whose credits include Resident Evil 2 and Overwatch—steps in as Captain Keyes.
Returning Voices and New Content
While some roles have been recast, the studio has worked to maintain continuity for other core characters. Steve Downes and Jen Taylor return to voice Master Chief and Cortana, respectively. Unlike some background characters whose original 2001 audio has been reused, Downes and Taylor have recorded both original dialogue from the 2001 campaign and new lines specifically for this remake.
Dr. Tawnya Pettiford-Wates will reprise her role as the Pelican pilot Carol "Foe Hammer" Rawley, utilizing original audio from the 2001 release. Additionally, Tim Dadabo returns as 343 Guilty Spark. Dadabo will also lend his voice to a new character, the Covenant San'Shyuum Minister of Harmony, appearing in the game's three new Operation: METEORITE prequel missions.
Halo: Campaign Evolved retains the level structure, storyline, and core gameplay functions of the 2001 original, bringing the crew of the UNSC Pillar of Autumn to Installation 04 for a modern audience.
