Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy continues to see strong commercial momentum. According to trilogy director Naoki Hamaguchi, sales for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth are performing “several times better” than internal expectations following the reveal of the final installment, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, at Summer Game Fest 2026.
Project Sales and Development Status
Hamaguchi noted that interest in the earlier titles in the trilogy consistently spikes whenever new information regarding the project is released. While specific figures remain undisclosed due to company policy, he confirmed that the titles are exceeding performance projections, with the PC market—particularly in English-speaking regions and the Simplified Chinese market—serving as a major contributor to this success.
Development on the final entry is currently supported by a high retention rate, with over 90 percent of the original staff from Remake remaining on the project through to Revelation.
Gameplay Adjustments
The development team is actively using player feedback from Rebirth to refine the experience for the final chapter. Changes confirmed for Revelation include:
- Improved Playability: Minigames are being adjusted to be skippable.
- Reward Balancing: Item and progression rewards are being tuned based on community responses to frustration points found in previous titles.
Quick Facts
- Release Window: Spring 2027.
