Saber Interactive has confirmed that Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 on October 8, 2026. After four years of development, the studio is preparing to bring the iconic horror franchise to the console with a focus on capturing Barker's unique approach to pain and pleasure.

Quick Facts

  • Release Date: October 8, 2026
  • Platform: PlayStation 5
  • Developer: Saber Interactive
  • Physical/Digital: Both formats confirmed

Aidan Lynch and the Genesis Configuration

Players will step into the shoes of protagonist Aidan Lynch. The story begins when Aidan’s girlfriend, Sunny, activates the Genesis Configuration—a mysterious puzzle box. Following its activation, the Cenobites appear and take Sunny, setting Aidan on a journey to save her soul.

Saber Interactive emphasizes that the Cenobites in Hellraiser: Revival are not traditional villains. In line with their depiction in the original film, the developers view them as “monks” interested in exploring the boundaries of sensation and experience, rather than simple antagonists.

Combat and Gameplay Mechanics

Aidan’s journey involves facing two distinct enemy factions:

  • The Scarlet Church: A cult led by a character named Marlowe that seeks to use the Genesis Configuration to create a “debauched paradise.”
  • The Unworthy: Described as “Hell’s rejects,” these are individuals who previously sought out the Cenobites but were denied by Leviathan, the ruler of the Labyrinth.

To survive, players will engage in combat using a dual-wielding system. By using the R2 button, players can attack with weapons, while the L1 button is reserved for utilizing powers tied to the Genesis Configuration. The game also includes stealth and evasion mechanics; if a situation becomes too intense, players can turn off their flashlight (R3) or perform a 180-degree turn (Left Stick + L3) to escape.

Development Insights

Game Director Emil Esov noted that the development process itself was an exploration of discomfort, with some team members even identifying their own phobias—such as trypophobia—while designing the visual style of the game. The team hopes this translates to a horror experience that stays true to the source material's exploration of extreme sensation.
