The Elder Scrolls Online Faces Content Delays After Staff Cuts
The Elder Scrolls Online developer Zenimax Online lost more than 200 developers following Microsoft's recent Xbox restructuring, according to a Microsoft filing. The studio is now adjusting its production schedules to cope with reduced team bandwidth.
In a community letter, new game director Nick Giacomini—who replaced 14-year veteran Rich Lambert—addressed the organizational changes and departures of teammates. Giacomini stated that attempting to hit previously announced deadlines with the restructured team would compromise quality. As a result, the studio is adopting a strict principle of prioritizing polished experiences over rigid calendar dates.

Despite the setbacks, Giacomini emphasized a new chapter of collaboration with Bethesda Game Studios across the franchise, aimed at sharing ideas and aligning efforts for future content. Plans for 2027 remain under finalization, but the studio intends to feature new experiences set in Skyrim.
