Microsoft is expanding its cloud gaming reach, bringing the Xbox app to millions of VIDAA OS-powered smart TVs, including select 2024–2026 Hisense models. The rollout, confirmed on July 30, 2026, allows players to stream titles directly to their televisions without the need for dedicated gaming hardware.
Requirements for Cloud Gaming
To access the service, players must meet the following criteria:
- Hardware: A Hisense or VIDAA OS-powered smart TV running VIDAA OS 9.6 or higher.
- Subscription: An active Xbox Game Pass subscription (Ultimate, Premium, or Essential).
- Controller: A Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller, such as an Xbox Wireless Controller or a PlayStation DualSense.
- Connection: A reliable high-speed internet connection.
According to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, this expansion brings the total reach of the Xbox cloud gaming solution to more than 150 million connected TVs worldwide. The move is designed to provide access to the platform for players who may not own a console, particularly as hardware costs face upward pressure from AI-related memory chip demand.
How to Start Playing
If your device is compatible, check your TV settings for the VIDAA OS 9.6 update. Once installed, the Xbox app will be accessible from the TV's Home Page or the “Games” section of the menu. After signing in with an Xbox account and pairing a Bluetooth controller, players can stream games from the Game Pass library or supported titles they already own.
Microsoft noted that availability may vary by region and device, with the rollout continuing gradually to additional compatible models over time. While the service is currently focused on subscription-based streaming, Microsoft is also testing an ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming, though that feature remains limited to Xbox Insiders.
