Developer GSC Game World has detailed the upcoming 2.0 update for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which arrives on PC on August 20 alongside the Cost of Hope expansion. The hefty patch introduces widespread visual tweaks, mechanical adjustments to weather and visibility, and changes to the game's simulation systems.
Quick Facts
- Game: Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl
- Platform: PC
- Release Date: August 20
- Developer: GSC Game World
Visual Adjustments and Environment Fixes
The shooter receives a visual upgrade focused heavily on lighting. Indoor spaces feature more realistic lighting, while landscapes and foliage are adjusted to look more natural. Additionally, the update resolves an issue where hundreds of items previously floated inadvertently across the world.
Weather systems also see functional changes. Fog now plays a mechanical role by obstructing both player and enemy sight and hearing, allowing for stealthier playstyles. Furthermore, the Light Rainy weather scenario has been reworked to appear more detailed.
A-Life System and Custom Rules
The A-Life simulation system receives updates designed to make creature behavior more believable. Mutants and stalkers inhabit more points of interest, such as campfires and bus stops, leading to contested locations. Stalkers across the Zone will also loot fallen characters independently of player proximity.
A new custom rules feature lets players fine-tune gameplay elements. Players can toggle the tutorial, adjust loot frequency, modify enemy difficulty for both humans and mutants, and alter environmental hazards. Previous additions, including master difficulty and expedition mode, remain available.
Weapons, Tracking, and Modding Tools
Players gain access to three types of binoculars alongside multiple new weapons and scopes. A dedicated PDA page has been added to track statistics such as total kills and favorite weapons.
For creators, the official modding tool known as the Zone Kit receives fresh additions supporting narrative scripting, audio, and localization.
