Developer Megacrit has announced a shift in the development roadmap for Slay the Spire 2. While the team continues to address bug fixes and balance updates, they are moving away from the bi-weekly patch cadence on the beta branch to prioritize larger, more complex content.

Roadmap Priorities

The team is currently transitioning resources to focus on three major additions:

  • An alternate Act 2
  • A new character
  • Experimental game modes

Megacrit noted that while the bi-weekly schedule was effective for smaller features, it limited the time available for these more substantial updates. As a result, future patches will arrive at a slower, less regular pace. The team will be out of the office for an annual break during late August, meaning no update is scheduled for August 27.

Confirmed Features and Status

Several features have already been integrated into the game via recent updates:

  • Full Steam Workshop support
  • Initial scaffolding for The Bestiary
  • A new Badge/Score system
  • Localization for Traditional Chinese and Indonesian
  • Additional cards and relics

Regarding player questions about game mechanics, the developers confirmed that they do not intend to allow enchantment stacking, as they want to prioritize deckbuilding over card-specific snowballing. Additionally, while the team is open to adding character outfits or recolors, these are not currently a high priority.

Players can expect Steam Achievements to be implemented upon the game's v1.0 release. For those interested in competitive play, the 7th annual "Cat Food Cup" tournament is currently underway, with the main bracket scheduled through August 30, 2026.
