Hello Games is planning to support Light No Fire with long-term, post-launch content, mirroring the development model established by No Man’s Sky. Following the 10-year anniversary of their space exploration title, studio head Sean Murray confirmed that the team intends to use the same iterative approach for their upcoming fantasy game.
Development and Community Updates
While Light No Fire was first announced in December 2023, Hello Games has kept details scarce. However, Murray confirmed that the studio views the game as a broad canvas. The development team aims to implement features based on player feedback, a practice they refined over a decade of free updates for No Man’s Sky.
The crossover between the two titles is already evident in recent development. Murray noted that specific features, such as the multi-crew ships introduced in the 2025 Voyagers update for No Man’s Sky, were originally conceived for Light No Fire.
"We feel that [Light No Fire is] a game that will fit with that way of making games, where you can think of a lot of ideas, and they would make sense, and we can feed off the community," Murray said.
Release and Platform Status
As of early 2026, Hello Games has not provided a specific release date or a confirmed list of platforms for Light No Fire. While the game remains in active development—with Murray noting he has worked on the project for seven years—there is currently no information regarding pre-loads, store availability, or early access windows.
For now, the studio remains focused on the long-term potential of the project, with Murray expressing his hope to continue working on the title for years following its eventual launch.
