Hello Games founder Sean Murray has detailed the development size for Light No Fire, revealing that the sprawling open-world survival game is being built by a small team.
Development Team Size and Structure
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Murray confirmed that day-to-day operations involve anywhere between 12 and 20 developers working on the game. That puts the average team size at around 15 people—roughly the same number that worked on No Man's Sky at launch.
Across both active projects, Hello Games has roughly 30 developers split between Light No Fire and ongoing updates for No Man's Sky. While the studio is larger than its pre-launch era—when the average team size hovered around six people—Murray notes that the current staff remains very small considering the massive scale of their projects.
Ambition Versus Resources
The studio relies on existing tools and technology to maintain productivity across the ambitious planet-sized open-world of Light No Fire. Updates on the survival game have remained sparse since its announcement 2.5 years ago as the small team continues development.
