Beach trips come with plenty of hazards—sunburns, sandy shoes, and sticky ice cream—but a new PC title is packaging the best part of the coast into a digital sandbox. Sandcastle is an upcoming physics-accurate building game where players mold structures out of sand, drawing comparisons to titles like Tiny Glade.

To start, players receive a tiny patch of sand and a few basic tools to shape walls, towers, and crenelations. As progress continues, players can unlock additional beach and holiday-themed locales. Along the way, exploring the sandbox functions similarly to a hidden object game; players pick up starfishes and shells. Finding starfishes nets extra customization options, while other discovered objects can be used to decorate completed castles.

Physics and Erosion Mechanics

The standout feature of Sandcastle is its commitment to realistic sand physics. Sand reacts directly to moisture levels. Dry sand remains powdery and crumbly, whereas damp sand packs together densely. Placing a build too close to the shoreline introduces natural erosion hazards as ocean waves lap against the walls.

As the game's Steam page explains, carving too thin risks a tower slumping over, while reinforcing structures with damp sand helps them stand proud against the tide.
