World of Warcraft patch 12.1, titled Curse of Ula'tek, arrives on PC in just a couple of weeks on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The upcoming update brings a wide range of additions to Blizzard Entertainment's long-running MMO, ranging from new high-end instances and dungeons to quality-of-life updates for player housing.

New Lairs and Endgame Content

One of the more notable additions in the Curse of Ula'tek update is the introduction of Lairs. These act as world boss encounters that function similarly to Delves, complete with their own instances and a summoning stone. They feature scaling difficulty up to flexible Mythic for groups of 15 to 25 players.

Players will also head from the shores of Zul'Aman to The Coiled Isle as the campaign continues. Arator deals with the fallout from the Voidspire while players hunt for Xal'atath and investigate the reappearance of the Twilight Blade. Additionally, Astalor Bloodsworn and the Prey mechanic return with new targets to take down in The Coiled Isle.

Alongside Lairs, the patch introduces the Altar of Fangs dungeon, the Venomous Abyss raid, three new Delves, and a Nemesis Delve. Bot Arenas are also being added to give players a way to try out PvP without facing human opponents.

Midnight Season 2 Schedule

One week after the patch goes live on the weekly reset of Tuesday, August 18, Midnight Season 2 officially kicks off. The rotation for Mythic+ features the new Altar of Fangs dungeon alongside Murder Row, Den of Nalorakk, The Blinding Vale, and Voidscar Arena. Returning dungeons joining the rotation are Kings' Rest, Ruby Lifepools, and Temple of Sethraliss.

Player Housing Upgrades

For players focused on decorating, patch 12.1 introduces navigation technology that allows unlocked companions to wander around personal abodes. By placing a Pet Bed item, players can have their favorite companion chill inside their house.

The update also adds export and import tools for player homes. Players can share spaces they have built or import designs created by others, with options to apply changes to the interior, exterior, either option individually, or even a single room on its own.
