Nearly two years after its initial launch, mobile game Pokémon TCG Pocket is experiencing a decline in its player base, according to financial data recently published by developer DeNA in a report to its investors.
Released in October 2024, the digital card game experienced explosive popularity upon arrival. While the mobile release did not replicate the massive cultural phenomenon seen during the summer 2016 launch of Pokémon GO, it drew a large audience of players trying out the digital card format.
Now, updated metrics from the game's developer indicate that player retention has shifted as the title moves further past its initial release window. The developer disclosures provide the first clear picture of the game's current standing nearly two years into its lifecycle on mobile platforms.
