What to Expect from Danchi Days
In Danchi Days, players step into the role of 12-year-old Hoshino. After moving back to her Japanese hometown with her father to live with her grandmother—who now has dementia—Hoshino decides to host a summer festival to match the ones her grandmother once organized.
To pull off the festival, players must convince as many neighbors to RSVP as possible with the help of an amnesiac kappa. Exploration takes place inside a danchi, a type of Japanese mass housing complex that serves as a wide world for the young protagonist to navigate.
Sense Games and Mechanics
Interacting with the neighborhood involves attuning to surroundings to make small sparks appear, which kicks off short minigames known as sense games. These repeatable challenges place Hoshino's head on a grid where tasks must be completed within a set number of steps, ranging from hitting musical notes to forming water droplets.
