Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld, has moved to clarify its involvement in a growing number of franchise spin-offs. Following confusion regarding recent announcements, the developer confirmed that while it remains the primary studio for the main Palworld experience, it has licensed the intellectual property to external partners for several projects.
Clarifying Development Responsibilities
John "Bucky" Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, addressed the situation on social media, emphasizing that the studio is not behind every project bearing the Palworld name. To illustrate the distinction, the company provided a breakdown of its current development portfolio:
- Developed by Pocketpair: Palworld, Craftopia, Palfarm, and More Than Just Pals.
- Licensed to External Partners: Palworld OCG (Card Game), Palworld Mobile (developed by Krafton), and Palworld Online (developed by Garena).
Buckley noted that while Pocketpair is involved in running its own publishing arm, the studio remains "100% self-owned and self-funded." He indicated that players with feedback or inquiries regarding the mobile or online spin-offs should direct those concerns to the respective developers, Krafton and Garena, rather than the original studio.
Current Status of Palworld Projects
The clarification follows a busy period for the franchise, which recently saw the launch of version 1.0 on Steam. While Palworld Online has been announced as a mobile-only MMORPG featuring original story elements, Pocketpair’s focus remains on its own internal projects. The company continues to maintain its independence despite the expansion of the brand through various third-party licensing deals.
