Gerard Way, the frontman of My Chemical Romance, recently made a surprising admission to a crowd of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. During a break between songs, when asked about Baldur's Gate 3, the singer confessed he hadn't yet played the title.
"No, I only played Baldur's Gate 1," Way told the audience. "Not that I probably wouldn't have liked two and three. I did play the Icewind Dale expansion; I just ran out of time, y'know?"
Way further inquired about the quality of the latest entry, noting, "Is it good? I would assume so, the first one was a lot of fun, it was the closest thing at the time to playing Dungeons and Dragons."
Larian Studios Responds
It didn't take long for the developers at Larian Studios to catch wind of the singer's comments. The studio quickly reached out via social media, hoping to bridge the gap in Way's gaming library.
"Gerard, there's a Baldur's Gate 3 code with your name on it if you fancy trying it, lots of love, Larian," the studio tweeted on July 13, 2026. While the offer was public, the studio tagged an account that has been inactive since 2016, leaving the ball in Way's court regarding whether he accepts the digital gift.
A Reputation for Timesinks
The exchange highlights a reality familiar to many fans of the series: these games are significant time commitments. As noted in the original report, completing any entry in the Baldur's Gate series is a substantial accomplishment for anyone juggling other responsibilities. Whether Way eventually finds the time to jump into the Forgotten Realms remains to be seen, but the offer from Larian remains open.
