Krafton has officially transitioned its user-generated content (UGC) efforts into a new platform titled PUBG: Playgrounds. Replacing the previous alpha system that debuted in July 2025, the new platform is designed to provide players with tools to build and share custom experiences directly within PUBG: Battlegrounds.

Quick Facts

  • Platform: PUBG: Battlegrounds (Multi-Platform)
  • Contest Dates: August 12, 2026 – [Closing date to be confirmed]
  • Total Prize Pool: $95,000
  • Categories: Combat, Survival, and Creative

To encourage adoption of the new toolset, Krafton is partnering with the game modification platform CurseForge to host a global creator contest. According to CurseForge general manager Alon Rabinovitz, the initiative aims to jump-start the ecosystem by recruiting creators to build the first wave of content.

The contest invites creators to submit original game modes. Winners will be selected through a combination of community voting and panels of community leaders. Beyond the cash prizes, Krafton intends to feature the winning experiences directly in-game, providing authors with official visibility within the PUBG client.

Contest Structure and Awards

The $95,000 prize pool is distributed across three categories: Combat, Survival, and Creative. Each category offers a total of $25,000 in prizes, with $10,000 awarded to the first-place entry. Additionally, the contest includes:

  • Mid-contest awards: Ten creators will receive $500 prizes.
  • Community Favorites: Six creators will be awarded $2,500 based on a public fan vote.

Krafton and CurseForge plan to track both the volume of high-quality creations produced and the subsequent player engagement with those modes to evaluate the success of the new platform. While the move places PUBG into a market currently dominated by established UGC platforms like Roblox and Fortnite, Krafton is leveraging its existing, consistent player base to drive the transition.
