Cooking food in Beast of Reincarnation is a hub mechanic that grants Emma permanent stat bonuses, though the game leaves the exact process somewhat unclear. Rather than cooking meals yourself, you must rely on an NPC named Kagura to prepare them.
How to Cook Meals in Beast of Reincarnation
- Find recipes: Locate meal recipes out in the world or purchase them directly from merchants.
- Visit Kagura: Head back to the Cleanse Walker hub and speak with Kagura, who stands next to the weapon upgrade workbench.
- Research the recipe: Choose "Cooking Research" from her menu and select the recipe you want her to learn permanently. This takes time, so check back later.
- Rest to eat: When you next choose to rest in the Cleanse Walker, select an unlocked meal from the list provided she has the required ingredients.
- Receive stat bonuses: Watch the cinematic of Emma, Koo, and Kagura eating. The following morning, Emma will wake up with a stat increase determined by the meal consumed. Eating a meal for the first time grants a larger enhancement.
Gathering and Growing Ingredients
Meals require ingredients that you can buy from merchants or grow yourself. To produce your own ingredients, visit the room at the back of the Cleanse Walker next to the shower, where you can grow vegetables and keep small livestock like chickens. These production processes take time, so it is best to start them early and research low-ingredient recipes to ensure you always have food available.
It is worth noting that cooked meals differ from hunger-preventing rations. While Kagura's meals boost stats, rations merely delay the onset of hunger for Emma and Koo while exploring the world on PC.
