If you've been trying to sail the Jackdaw to the Mayan temple island in Black Flag Resynced, you’ve likely run into a frustrating wall. Attempting to reach the island before you are meant to will result in an immediate forced desynchronization, booting you back to the sea. To help you bypass this and claim your rewards, here is exactly how to unlock the location and where to dig for the buried treasure.
How to Unlock Isla Providencia
Isla Providencia is located on the southern border of the map at (487, 23), southwest of Kingston. You cannot access it simply by sailing there; the game requires you to reach a specific point in the campaign.
- Progress the Main Story: You need to play through approximately two-thirds of the main questline.
- Complete 'Vainglorious Bastards': This is the specific mission that triggers your path to the island.
- Finish 'Mutiny': After finishing the sailing quest mentioned above, you will be directed to the island for the mission 'Mutiny.' Once this mission is complete, the island remains unlocked for all future travel.
Isla Providencia Treasure Location
Once you have access to the island, you can head to the treasure map location to claim your reward. The buried chest contains 2,000 Reales and the Governor's Outfit.
- Coordinates: Head to (487, 11).
- Landmarks: Look for three palm trees clustered together near a small rocky outcrop right on the beach.
- The Dig Spot: The chest is buried directly in front of the middle tree. Simply follow the on-screen button prompt to dig it up.
You can grab this treasure during the 'Mutiny' mission or return to the island at any time later in the game. While you are in the southern region, it is worth checking your map for the Grand Cayman chest or clearing out the smuggler's den at Anotto Bay to maximize your haul.
