RGG Studio, the team behind the Like a Dragon franchise, has officially set a release date for its upcoming crime saga, Stranger Than Heaven. The game will launch on January 15, 2027, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

A 50-Year Crime Saga

Spanning half a century, Stranger Than Heaven begins in 1915 San Francisco. Players follow the story of Makoto Daito, an anti-hero born to an American father and a Japanese mother. After the loss of his parents, Makoto moves to Japan, where he discovers a talent for music and entertainment. The narrative takes players through various historical settings, including Fukuoka in 1915, Hiroshima in 1929, and Osaka in 1943, as Makoto travels to write songs and stage performances.

While the game shares developer DNA with the Like a Dragon series, its combat system marks a departure from traditional brawlers. Players will experience a more methodical, strategic, and real-time combat system where Makoto's arms and legs are controlled independently—punches are mapped to the bumpers, while kicks are assigned to the triggers. You can also utilize weapons and engage in defensive maneuvers while holding onto opponents.
