Pre-order sales for Grand Theft Auto 6 have reached what Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick describes as an "unprecedented and astonishing" level. Speaking during a financial call with analysts on Friday, Zelnick shared that the early demand for Rockstar Games' upcoming title has been exceptional since going live in June.
Quick Facts

- Ultimate Edition Price: $99.99 USD
- Report Date: August 2026
Understanding the Pre-Order Volume
While exact figures were not disclosed during the financial call, Zelnick emphasized the sheer scale of consumer response following the June 25 pre-order launch. That same day also brought the official pricing reveal, setting the Standard Edition at $79.99 USD and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 USD.
The pricing structure drew fan discussion and some backlash regarding the Ultimate Edition, which includes exclusive weapons, vehicles, and in-game shops. Despite the debate surrounding the tier pricing, consumer commitment has outpaced normal trajectories.
"I can say that the level of pre-orders is unprecedented and astonishing, and we’re very grateful for that," Zelnick told analysts. However, he noted that the high volume makes it difficult to project final sales outcomes reliably: "They are so unprecedented that we just don’t know how it’ll translate into sales... We genuinely don’t, and we just don’t believe in claiming victory before it occurs."
