Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, has addressed ongoing speculation regarding the conclusion of the Remake trilogy. In a recent interview, Hamaguchi confirmed that he has not disclosed the ending of the final installment to any media outlet.
Hamaguchi stated that his primary goal is for players to look back on the entire trilogy with a sense of satisfaction, rather than focusing exclusively on the final moments. He emphasized that the development team is intentionally keeping the narrative direction of the finale under wraps to encourage players to experience the journey for themselves.
Development and Narrative Direction
Regarding the plot, Hamaguchi noted that the team has not decided if the finale will mirror the 1997 original. When asked about potential deviations, he explained that the team is considering multiple paths, including directions that would be completely unexpected for long-time fans of the series.
The development of the trilogy represents over a decade of work involving the redesign and restructuring of the original narrative for modern hardware. Hamaguchi recently noted that the scale of development has impacted design choices, specifically mentioning that each character in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will have four jobs to maintain development feasibility.
