During a 2026 Fan Fest panel in Berlin, game director Naoki 'Yoshi-P' Yoshida addressed the trend, admitting his initial confusion regarding the boss's popularity. “Honestly speaking, I just don't know why this is such a thing,” Yoshida said through a translator. “I am really glad to hear that Chort is so well received, but honestly speaking, I just couldn't really understand what is the appeal or point of Chort.”

Despite his initial bafflement, Yoshida acknowledged the role the community plays in shaping the game's culture. He noted that the team monitors social media for these types of unexpected reactions, finding value in the memes and discussions that arise spontaneously from players.

Furthermore, developers announced a crossover raid series featuring content from the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
