College Football 27 is rolling out a significant title update this week, focusing on refining the Dynasty Blueprint experience and addressing community feedback regarding progression and recruiting. Following the removal of paid progression options on July 11th, the development team is now shifting focus to the internal balance of coaching careers and player development.
New Coach XP Speed Settings
The most notable change in this update is the replacement of previous sliders with three distinct Coach XP Speed Settings. These settings are designed to preserve the long-term challenge of building a program, which the team noted had become too easy or fast in previous iterations.
- Career (1.0x XP): The new default setting. It is designed for the authentic Dynasty Blueprint experience, where every coaching decision and point holds significant weight over a 20–30 year career.
- Simulation (1.25x XP): A balanced option for players who want a realistic pace while still seeing slightly accelerated coach progression.
- Casual (1.5x XP): The fastest available setting, replacing the old 'Faster' option to allow for quicker ability unlocks.
These changes apply to both offline and online dynasties, with league commissioners retaining control over the setting in multiplayer environments.
Recruiting and Player Progression Updates
The update brings several tuning adjustments to recruiting to ensure CPU-controlled teams remain competitive:
- CPU Competitiveness: Improved logic for how CPU teams pursue and retain high-rated recruits.
- Late-Cycle Recruiting: A two-part fix begins today to reduce the number of recruits left without viable offers late in the season.
- Offseason Progression: Player progression has been increased across the board, which the developers note will result in a higher frequency of 90 OVR or better players in the later stages of a Dynasty.
The team also confirmed upcoming fixes for incorrectly displayed 'Proximity to Home' grades for Hawaii, as well as adjustments to 'Risk of Transfer' bars when NIL offers are made.
Road to Glory and Gameplay Fixes
For those playing Road to Glory, the development team clarified that standalone XP sliders will not be returning. Instead, progression remains tied to the mode's core loop, including weekly decisions, fitness, leadership, and on-field difficulty. The team addressed a specific bug where EDGE players were failing to trigger position battles; while this update includes an initial fix, a secondary patch is expected next week to resolve the issue entirely. Players currently stuck are advised to transfer schools until the final fix arrives.
Finally, the update addresses gameplay stability and fixes a persistent issue where defensive packages would reset if the offense used a hurry-up or no-huddle strategy. Further gameplay refinements, including fixes for Switch Stick input delays, are slated for a separate update next week.
