CD Projekt Red has announced a full-scale remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, arriving as a free update for players on September 29, 2026. This release follows a previous upgrade provided in 2022 and arrives alongside the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion.
Technical and Gameplay Enhancements
The remaster focuses on modernizing the 2015 title with current-standard lighting and expanded ray tracing support. Beyond visual fidelity, the developer has implemented several functional changes to core gameplay systems:
- Combat and Movement: Updates include new finisher animations, refined mount handling, and enhanced monster behaviors.
- Signs: Geralt’s Witcher signs have received visual updates for a more distinct appearance.
- Progression and Customization: Players can utilize a new transmogrification system to apply the stats of preferred armor to any desired aesthetic. The skill tree has also undergone a complete revamp.
- Quality of Life: The update adds new accessibility features, improved menu navigation, enhanced UI elements, and updated quest tracking.
- Photo Mode: The existing tool has been expanded with additional features.
Content Inclusions
The remaster bundle will include the base game alongside the two major expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. This release serves as an additional update for the title as the studio continues development on The Witcher 4, which is currently targeted for a 2028 release.
