Nowakowski stated that CD Projekt Red has more than 500 developers working on the title. The game features a large, open world, action-packed gameplay, and a story driven by Ciri at the helm. While the studio is not showing the project at gamescom 2026 and has not yet locked in an exact calendar date, the team is actively pointing toward a 2028 launch.
The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past Expansion Details
Ahead of the new saga, CD Projekt is releasing a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past. Co-developed with Fool's Theory, the expansion arrives in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The expansion returns players to the role of Geralt of Rivia for a standalone story set after the events of The Witcher 3. CD Projekt has positioned the project as an indirect prologue that sets the stage for the franchise's future while delivering a high-quality experience for existing fans. The studio also confirmed that the expansion will match the scale of Blood and Wine and include additional Gwent cards.
